This lecture will cover the topics of how soil and botanical information can assist the Criminal Justice System. From information in defining areas of search, through trace evidence analysis and evaluation of data, to presenting evidence in court, the science behind the discipline development will be outlined, using where possible examples from actual cases, both in the UK and abroad. Lorna has a PhD in Soil Science and diplomas in civil and criminal law. She is a registered advisor with the National Crime Agency and a trained Expert Witness. Lorna has worked on over 200 cases with police, agencies, and lawyers in the UK and overseas. In 2018 she was awarded a CBE for services to soil and forensic science.
